The Compost Site will open on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The City of Defiance offers a location for citizens to dispose of yard waste. The Compost Site is located at the Water Pollution Control Plant, 26273 St. Rt. 281 East. The entrance drive is located along the west fence of General Motors. Each citizen must empty their own yard waste.
The Compost Site is available to Defiance City residents only, and they must show a valid driver's license or utility bill to access the site.
March through December 2026:
Saturday: 9 am to 2:30 pm
Tuesday and Thursday: Noon to 6 pm
Closed: Independence Day (July 4) and Thanksgiving Day (November 26, 2026)
Weekday hours will end on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at 6:00 pm
Saturdays will end on December 12, 2026, at 2:30 pm; the last day open for 2026
The Compost Site will re-open in March 2027.
