The Defiance Police Department takes the safety and welfare of our children and our schools very seriously. Our commitment to student and school safety has enabled us to hire two full-time School Resource Officers (SROs). Officers who are assigned to the Defiance Police Department SRO program are trained and certified as School Resource Officers. The role of the School Resource Officer is to foster a safe learning environment for students and staff and to promote trust, respect, understanding, and mutual benefit for all students, staff, and the families of the schools located in the City of Defiance.
Police Officer Adam Kunz and Police Officer Michelle Waltmire are the current School Resource Officers. Kunz and Waltmire have both served on the Defiance Police Department since 2014. Kunz was assigned as SRO in 2024, and Waltmire in 2025.
