The Defiance Police Department has a group of individuals who work toward making Defiance a better community. This group is the Reserve Officers of the Defiance Police Department. Some, but not all, have completed the required training in Ohio to become sworn police officers with full police powers. We encourage all our Reserve Officers to complete the training, but it is not required to join and serve in our reserve unit.
The reserves are authorized 15 members. These officers are often seen at local sporting events, parades, and special activities. The reserves supplement the full-time officers at fire and major crime scenes, during storms, in searches for the missing, and in patrol duties.
