Kim Sprague began her career as the Finance Director at the City of Defiance on February 6, 2023. She says it's rewarding to be in this role and a privilege and an honor to be hired for this position and takes great pride in her work. Kim oversees the annual city budget and works closely with Board of Control members and all of the various division heads to plan the budget wisely each year. Under her guidance, Defiance has continued to do well financially.
After receiving two degrees from Defiance College — a bachelor’s degree in 2004 and a master’s degree in Business Administration in 2010 — she then received her Ohio School Treasurer’s License from Ashland University in October 2017.
Sprague held two prior jobs in the financial field since graduating from Defiance College. The first was working as the treasurer/CFO (chief financial officer) at the Buckeye Educational Service Center in Paulding from August 2014-August 2017. There, she managed and oversaw the financial operations of the center. She then worked as the Paulding Exempted Village Schools treasurer/CFO from August 2017 to February 2023.
Kim lives in Defiance with her husband Eric Sprague and their children Kambell, Mason, and Landry.
