Canal Park - Miami & Erie Canal Lock No. 37

The floods of 1913 caused heavy damage in Defiance including the Miami & Erie Canal Lock No. 37. By 1917, most of the bridges across the canal in the downtown were removed. The canal was gradually filled & drained.

The remains of the north end of Maumee & Erie Lock No. 37 have lain exposed, until partially renovated in 1997. Today, it s a tourist attraction with an adjacent Amphitheater.
