The City of Defiance Civil Service Commission is testing to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. National Testing Network will be used to administer this test. Visit to review the requirements and details of the Police Officer position, to apply for this position and to schedule a test. Testing centers are located throughout Ohio, and you can choose the date, time, and testing center of your choice. The deadline to take this test is July 25, 2018.
After completion of the computerized test, and after the testing deadline, the City of Defiance Civil Service Commission will inform you if you qualify to take the physical agility test. All candidates who successfully passed the computerized test will move on to the physical agility test which will be held August 18, 2018. If you have passed the written test, and received your OPOTA certificate within one year of the scheduled agility test, provide a copy of your certificate by the application deadline and you will not be required to take the local physical agility test. Veteran’s Credit is also offered to candidates who pass Civil Service testing. More information about the physical agility test and Veteran’s Credit is available at the City of Defiance website at
All of this information must be received by the City of Defiance by the application deadline. The final eligibility list will be determined by written test score, successful completion of an agility test and Veteran’s Credit if eligible by the City of Defiance Civil Service Commission.
